Co-op Membership
Becoming a member is a great way to get involved; it’s your co-op, too, and membership provides benefits to you as both a customer and a co-owner. You’ll be eligible for special discounts, and you’ll also be able to help shape the way the Co-op works and grows.
Co-op Policies: What am I supporting?
By nature, all co-ops share a fundamental respect for all human beings and a belief in their capacity to improve themselves economically and socially through mutual help. Co-ops provide education to their communities, and work for the sustainable development of these communities through policies accepted by their members.
Co-ops are based on the values of:
- Self-help
- Self-responsibility
- Democracy
- Equality
- Equity
- Solidarity
Cooperative members adhere to the ethical values of:
- Honesty
- Openness
- Social responsibility
- Caring for others
Co-op members join friends and neighbors in building:
- A locally-owned and democratically-controlled economic institution that serves the needs of the community
- A business that brings integrity into the marketplace
- A company that is responsive and operates with the consumers’ interests at heart
- A business far less likely to pull up stakes and leave in hard times
- Community connections
Membership Benefits: Why Join?
The heart and soul of any co-op is its members. Without members, the co-op would not exist. There are plenty of benefits to membership.
- All of us get a store! We all get a non-profit, democratically-run store. Unlike a conventional grocery store, our primary mission is to serve our shoppers, not profit at their expense. All the things you like about this store exist only because we invest the money to create it.
- 10 for 10 program: Every tenth time you shop, you receive 10% off your purchases. You may save this discount for your big shopping trips: save at least $100/year.
- Member Sales: Buy two items each month (out of 20 items): save about $72/year.
- Inventory Sales: Every quarter, we have a two-day sale to make it easier to count our inventory. The more you buy, the bigger your discount, up to 15%: save at least $100/year.
- Be a Superworker: If you have two hours a week to volunteer, you'll earn a 20% discount each week on $75 worth of purchases: up to $780/year in discounts.

Membership Cost
A lifetime membership is $100, payable in installments of $25 over a period of four years. This Member Equity Share is a refundable, non-interest-bearing deposit, which we use to provide for the capital investment needs of our community member-owned marketplace. Each equity share translates into one vote in the Co-op’s decision-making process.
How to Join
Just ask any Co-op cashier or manager for a membership application card, fill it out, and pay your member equity share. It’s that easy.
