About Transition Town White River Junction

Transition Town White River Junction is a group of people interested in finding solutions for the challenges brought by declining oil resources, climate change and a failing economy. The group was formed in the spring of 2009 by people who live and work in White River Junction.  Throughout 2009 and early 2010 we have held educational meetings, events and film screenings.  Some highlights:

• Establishment of a small garden of fruit trees and shrubs on Main Street
• A presentation on Reskilling (relearning old skills that use less fossil energy) by permaculturist Ben Falk
• A Garden Party at the Community Garden, complete with a bicycle-powered milkshake machine and car-pushing races.
• A talk and slide show on Alternative Health Care
• A Carbon-Footprinting presentation by Jim Merkel
• A workshop on Biochar
• A workshop on Seed Saving
• A Presentation on Permaculture
• A monthly movie series which has included In Transition(which details highlights from Transition Initiatives all over the world); Fresh; The Global Banquet; Mad City Chickens
